The remains of the Castle can be visited
Schreckenberg Castle
Between 1854 and 1856, a romanticized castle ruin was erected on the Schreckenberg, which still shapes the image of the mountain today. The castle tower with its hinted ruin remains was financed by private funds from wealthy Annaberg citizens and by the local company Eisenstuck & Co, and built by unemployed people and day laborers. The Privy Councillor Carl Friedrich Reiche-Eisenstuck is considered the initiator. At a time of strong economic recession, the construction project served primarily as emergency work - in today's sense, a job creation measure.
