The Crusader castle Casal des Plains, a historic fortress, is located in Azor, Israel. It stands as a testament to the turbulent history of the Crusader period and today offers the opportunity to explore its remains.

History+

The origins of the Casal des Plains fortress date back to 1099 when it was erected during the First Crusade. Its existence, however, was brief, as it was destroyed by Saladin in 1187. Just four years later, in 1191, the castle was rebuilt under the leadership of Richard the Lionheart. Its final destruction occurred with the Mamluk conquest of the Holy Land.
