The origins of Ilmmünster Monastery date back to the mid-8th century. It was founded as a Benedictine monastery and dedicated to Saints Arsatius and Quirinus. In 1060, it was converted into a collegiate church. The history of the foundation ended with its dissolution and secularization in 1492/95.
