Royal Villa Wachwitz

The Royal Villa was built in 1892/93 according to plans by Wilhelm Teichgräber in the Neo-Renaissance style. In 1894, Crown Prince Friedrich August III moved in with his family and used the building until his accession to the throne in 1904. In addition to the family's private rooms, a small house chapel was also built. Until 1918, this villa was the summer residence of the House of Wettin and remained in family ownership thereafter until 1945. Most recently, the Saxon Academy for Further Education of Teachers and Educators had its domicile here. Today, the villa is facing renovation.
