Klostermuseum Ochsenhausen

The institution opened in August 1999. It is housed in the princely building of the former monastery, whose south wing once served as the guesthouse. The current museum rooms were formerly the monastery's reception areas and are among the most representative parts of the complex. The exhibition spans two floors over 500 square meters, illustrating the monastery's development from the consecration of its first church in 1093 until its dissolution and sale to the King of Württemberg in 1825. Exhibits include a larger-than-life carved Saint George, a silver tower monstrance, historic vestments, and other liturgical objects. Filing cabinets and the desk of the last abbot, Romuald Weltin, are also on display. An original procession order for the annual Georgiritt, as well as an azimuthal quadrant designed by monk Basilius Perger and built by Alois Weishaupt for the dome converted into an observatory in 1788, are also among the special exhibits.

The Ochsenhausen Monastery Museum is situated in the town of Ochsenhausen in the Biberach district, Baden-Württemberg, Germany.

The museum is jointly supported by the Roman Catholic parish of Ochsenhausen, the city of Ochsenhausen, and the state of Baden-Württemberg, dedicated to preserving and conveying the monastic history.
