The St. Georg Monastery in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, was once a significant religious center, distinguished by its origins and its role in the city's history. It represents a chapter in the monastic development of the region.
History+
The St. Georg Monastery was founded in 1750 by the Ursuline monastery from Neuburg. This foundation marked the beginning of a brief but influential era for the order in Ingolstadt. The monastery existed until 1810, when it was dissolved during the secularization. The associated church was desecrated after its dissolution. The building that served the Ursulines as a monastery was originally the Kaisheimer House on Harderstraße, which had been built around 1600 for the Fugger family.
