Sankt Zeno Abbey

The Monastery of Sankt Zeno was established in the year 1136. For centuries, it served as an Augustinian canons' monastery dedicated to Saint Zeno. Its history as a monastic institution concluded with the secularization in 1803, an event that led to the dissolution of many spiritual establishments.

The Monastery of Sankt Zeno is situated in Bad Reichenhall, within the Berchtesgadener Land district of Bavaria. It lies at an elevation of approximately 464 meters above sea level, nestled in the picturesque pre-Alpine landscape.

Following the monastery's dissolution in 1803, parts of the former monastic complex were repurposed. For instance, the former provost's building of the Augustinian canons' monastery has been utilized as an institute for the English Ladies since 1852. The collegiate buildings have also been used by this institution since that time. The former monastery garden is still present.
