Kloster Mariental

The origins of Mariental Convent date back to 1443, when the Cistercian nuns from Frauenzimmern abandoned their original site. For economic reasons, they relocated six kilometers southwest into the Kirbach Valley, specifically to Kirchbachhof, a place that had previously housed a provostry of Odenheim Abbey. The new community was under the supervision of Bebenhausen Abbey. Despite the move, economic difficulties persisted. In 1553, the convent, which by then comprised only two nuns, was dissolved. The convent church was demolished in 1566.

Mariental Convent was located in the Kirbach Valley, between the villages of Ochsenbach and Häfnerhaslach, in what is now the district of Ludwigsburg in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. The exact site was Kirbachhof, today part of the town of Sachsenheim.

Parts of the former convent buildings are still preserved today and have been integrated into an agricultural operation. The site thus bears witness to the long history of the place, even though its original use as a sacred building no longer exists.
