Kloster Levern
Levern Abbey in North Rhine-Westphalia is a former Cistercian convent, founded in the 13th century and now protected as a historical monument. It is dedicated to Saint Mary.
History+
The foundation of Levern Abbey took place in 1227. Initially, it was a convent of Cistercian nuns. Over time, the abbey developed into a significant landowner in the region. With the Reformation, by 1543 at the latest, the convent was transformed into a secular, noble women's collegiate foundation. This institution existed until its dissolution in 1810.

The former abbey is situated in Levern, a district of the municipality of Stemwede, in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It lies at an elevation of approximately 67 meters above sea level.
