The Dietenborn Monastery, once a significant spiritual center, is nestled in the picturesque landscape of Thuringia. Its long history is still evidenced by impressive remains today, offering insight into monastic life of past centuries and making the site a place for contemplation.
History+
The Dietenborn Monastery was founded in 1109 by the Benedictine monastery of Reinhardsbrunn as a daughter foundation. Originally inhabited by Benedictine monks, the monastic community transitioned to Cistercian nuns in 1496, who came from Eldena Monastery. This settlement continued until the monastery's dissolution in 1556. Today, only ruins of the former complex are visible, complemented by a mill building and the former monastery pond.
