Kloster des Heiligen Hiob von Potschajew (Munich)

The monastery in Munich was founded in 1945 by monks who had originally established a monastery in Eastern Slovakia in 1926. Having fled Russia after the October Revolution, they were again forced to flee at the end of World War II and settled in Munich. For decades, only a few elderly monks lived in the community. The monastery experienced a revival from 1980 onwards when the then bishop and current Metropolitan Mark moved in, and the monastic community began to grow again.

The monastery is situated within the city of Munich in Bavaria, Germany, specifically in the Obermenzing district. It is located in close proximity to Blutenburg Castle.

The monastery buildings, which once served as a Hitler Youth home, were converted by the monks themselves after the war. The former gymnasium was transformed into a church in honor of Saint Job of Pochaev. The church houses an iconostasis and frescoes by the monks. The premises also include accommodations for the monks, guest rooms, a printing press, and a candle-making workshop. The monastery serves as an important spiritual center for the diocese and for neighboring European countries, training candidates for the priesthood and receiving pilgrims. The monastic community plans to relocate to Seyfriedsberg Castle in Ziemetshausen, as the current premises are too cramped and the structural condition requires improvement.
