Kloster der Englischen Fräulein Herz Jesu, Augsburg

The Heart of Jesus Convent was founded in 1662 by Mary Points of Acton Ireton, at the instigation of Elector Ferdinand Maria. This convent of the English Ladies was dissolved in 1803 during secularization. As early as 1811, a school for higher-daughters was established on this site. The restoration of the convent was completed in 1816. Expansions for the school and a boarding house were realized in 1828 through new constructions. In 1944, the entire complex was completely destroyed by bombing. After the war, a complete reconstruction of the convent complex took place.

The Heart of Jesus Convent is located in the city of Augsburg in the federal state of Bavaria, Germany.

Today, the area of the former convent houses the Maria-Ward-Gymnasium Augsburg and the Maria-Ward-Realschule Augsburg. The Maria-Ward Sisters withdrew from the Realschule in 1998, having already relinquished sponsorship of the Gymnasium in 1992.
