Kloster der Barmherzigen Brüder, St. Wolfgang, Neuburg an der Donau

The St. Wolfgang Monastery was founded in 1623 by Duke Wolfgang Wilhelm of Palatinate-Neuburg. It was here that the Hospitaller Order of St. John of God, originating from Spain and dedicated to nursing the sick, established its first presence on German soil. In 1806, during the secularization period, the monastery was placed under state supervision, and its pharmacy was opened to the public. King Ludwig I of Bavaria officially decreed the monastery's continued existence in 1831, leading to subsequent expansions and modernizations. The monastic use ceased in 1980 when the Hospitaller Brothers relocated to the nearby former Franciscan monastery. In 1997, a modern geriatric center was established on the former monastery grounds.

The monastery is situated in Neuburg an der Donau, a town within the Neuburg-Schrobenhausen district in the Free State of Bavaria, Germany.

The former monastery grounds now house the Neuburg Geriatric Center, which opened in 1997.
