Kloster Obermarchtal

The current academy has been located in a part of the historic Imperial Abbey of St. Peter and Paul since 1978. This former Premonstratensian abbey shapes the image of the town with its architecture. The Baroque monastery complex is known in Upper Swabia for its coherence and excellent state of preservation.

The academy building is situated in Obermarchtal in the Alb-Donau district of Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Its geographical location in Upper Swabia is characterized by an elevation of approximately 545 meters above sea level.

The Kirchliche Akademie der Lehrerfortbildung Obermarchtal serves as an institute for teacher training and professional development. It offers academic-specialized and spiritual guidance. Additionally, it hosts guest conferences for the Ministry of Culture and Sports and the regional school authorities of Baden-Württemberg. Since 1993, the 'Marchtaler Fenster – Neue Kunst' exhibition series has been presented in the inner courtyard of the monastery complex, showcasing contemporary sculpture from Baden-Württemberg and being accessible to the public.
