Tiefenstockheim Churchcastle

The fortified church was first mentioned in a document in 1330 in the feudal book of the Prince-Bishopric of Würzburg. A Friedrich Hornung received land in the churchyard of Tiefenstockheim. In 1475, the cathedral provost was granted the right of entry. He was allowed to seek refuge in the fortified church in times of danger. Furthermore, documents from the 16th century reported 13 "Gaden" (small houses/storage units) and church houses, as well as six cellars.

After extensive renovation work, the fortified church complex was opened to the public in 2002. Five former "Gaden" were transformed into a village community center. Today, it offers space for events of all kinds.
