Katholische Karmelitinnenklosterkirche Maria Mutter des Erlösers

The origins of the convent date back to 1664 when it was founded as a Capuchin monastery. For over three centuries, until 1990, the Capuchins shaped the spiritual life at this location. Due to a lack of new vocations, the Capuchins were forced to close the convent. However, there was a desire to continue using the historic monastic complex for religious purposes. A new foundation was established in 2000 by Carmelite nuns from Speyer, who were able to establish a new branch due to numerous vocations. On October 15, 2000, the sisters moved into the newly established Carmelite convent.

The convent is situated in the town of Wemding in the Donau-Ries district, which belongs to the Swabian administrative region of Bavaria. The exact address is Kapuzinergraben 21.

The convent church features a hall building with a recessed rectangular choir. A chapel and sacristy are attached to the north side. A square roof turret crowns the choir. Between 1993 and 2000, the entire monument underwent extensive renovation and was supplemented by an extension. Today, the complex serves as an active Carmelite convent.
