History+
The origins of Kasteel Eerde date back to 1227, when a castle was first mentioned at this location. By 1380, this complex had developed into a significant fortress. Over the centuries, the castle was repeatedly the scene of sieges, looting, and fires, but it was always rebuilt. In 1715, the castle acquired its current appearance when August Leopold von Pallandt commissioned extensive new construction. Subsequently, the estate remained in the possession of the von Pallandt family for several generations, including Andries, Louis, Johan Samuel, Rudolph Theodor, and finally Philip Dirk von Pallandt, who donated a large part of the estate to charitable causes.
