The monastery was founded in 1637. It was consecrated under the patronage of Saint Joseph and played a significant role in the religious life of the area. The Carmelite community shaped the spiritual and cultural landscape for many decades. As a result of secularization, the monastery was dissolved in 1802, bringing an end to its monastic use.
