The Capuchin Monastery of St. Laurentius in Bingen was founded in 1616. The Capuchin order, a reform movement within the Franciscans, established a settlement here. In the course of secularization at the beginning of the 19th century, the monastery was dissolved, but the buildings remained and still bear witness to its former importance.
