The monastery was founded in 1630. It served as a spiritual center for the Capuchins until its dissolution during the secularization in 1802. Following the dissolution of the convent, whose members were transferred to the central monastery in Türkheim, the monastery buildings and the church came into private ownership. The original monastery church was demolished in 1846. The remaining monastery buildings subsequently found new use as a hospital and a poorhouse. Today, these historic walls house the Käthe Kruse Doll Museum and the Werner Egk Memorial Site.
