Johanniterkommende Hahn

The Johanniterkommende Hahn was founded after the year 1319 and served as a center for the Order of St. John in Northern Germany for over two centuries. The commandery played a significant role in the regional structure before its dissolution and secularization around 1525, in the wake of the Reformation. Its history reflects the turbulent times of the Middle Ages and early modern period, during which religious institutions often underwent profound changes.

The former monastery is situated in Ammerland, a region in northwestern Lower Saxony, Germany. The landscape is characterized by geest areas, moors, and forests, which provided the commandery with an idyllic yet strategic location.

Following its secularization, the monastic estate was used for various purposes.
