Huis te Eerbeek, a historic castle, is located on the northeastern edge of the village of Eerbeek in the Dutch province of Gelderland. Originally designed as a hunting lodge, it impresses with its former three-winged complex and surrounding moat.
History+
The origins of Huis te Eerbeek lie with the Lords of Bronckhorst, who used it as a hunting lodge. In 1553, after the childless death of Joost von Bronckhorst-Batenburg, the estate passed to his niece Irmgard von Wisch and her husband Georg von Limburg-Styrum. The Limburg-Styrum family held the property for an extended period until Otto von Limburg-Styrum sold it to Goswijn de Buininck in 1658 due to significant debts. A notable historical event was the council of war held at Huis te Eerbeek in 1665 during the Anglo-Dutch War.
