Hofmark Castle Naabeck

The castle was built in the 13th century by the Lords of Naabeck and is first mentioned in a document in 1270. In 1620, the castle was owned by Elsbeth von Taufkirchen, who founded a brewery. The special feature of the brewery is a 70-meter-deep well, which is located on the castle grounds and from which the rock spring water for the beer is obtained. In 1644, the castle was destroyed in the Thirty Years' War and rebuilt in 1656. In 1803, Karl J. Graf von Drechsel expanded the castle and the brewery. In 1892, the entire estate of the last descendant of the Count of Drechsel was sold.
