Herzog Castle

The castle, a majestic edifice, was erected around 1415. Initially conceived as a defensive structure, its strategic location made it a significant stronghold in the region.

From 1603 onwards, the castle served as the seat of the Lower Bavarian dukes. This period marked a significant transformation, as the fortress was gradually converted into a representative princely residence.

Over the centuries, the castle underwent numerous architectural modifications, reflecting the prevailing styles of each era. The original Gothic elements are still visible, particularly in the sturdy foundation and some of the inner courtyards.

The Renaissance Wing

Baroque Gardens
