Herz-Jesu-Kloster

The Herz-Jesu-Kloster was founded in 1928 in Stegen near Freiburg im Breisgau. It developed into an international training center for candidates for the priesthood and theology students. The community of the Priests of the Sacred Heart is dedicated here to teaching and the novitiate, with students from various countries such as Congo, Brazil, or Madagascar studying Catholic Theology at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg. In addition to education, the order is involved in pastoral care, particularly in local and clinical support as well as spiritual guidance.

The monastery is located at Okenstraße 17 in the Herdern district of Freiburg im Breisgau, a city in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. The cemetery of the Priests of the Sacred Heart, which serves both the former Kolleg St. Sebastian and the current monastery, remains in Stegen near Freiburg.

Today, the Herz-Jesu-Kloster continues to serve as a training center and spiritual hub. The monastic community is active in pastoral care and offers spiritual guidance. Furthermore, the monastery houses Freiburg's Italian-speaking community.
