Zschortau Manor

The Zschortau manor house is a historic building with a rich past. Its origins date back to the Middle Ages, although the current building was constructed in the 18th century.

• 1349/50 oldest surviving mention of Zschortau in the feudal book of Frederick the Strict
• the manor house was built around 1764 on behalf of Dr. Johann Jacob Volkmann on remains of older building fabric
• owners included Mr. Piper in 1773, the von Busse family, and the von Spiegel family
• November 2004 renovation by the Free State of Saxony
