Seedorf Manor

The Seedorf Gatehouse is a gatehouse in the municipality of Seedorf in the Segeberg district of Schleswig-Holstein.

The gatehouse was built in 1583 in the Dutch Late Renaissance style as part of the fortifications of the Seedorf Estate.

The building consists of the actual gatehouse, which in turn is flanked by two towers. It was constructed from bricks - the facade is structured with window frames and cornices made of sandstone and features numerous decorative anchors. The three-story gatehouse has a hip roof covered with roof tiles, while the towers have spires covered with slate.

On the front side, the gatehouse has four granite loopholes on the lower floor, in which small cannons are located.

In 1929, the gatehouse was placed under monument protection and became the property of the municipality of Seedorf. It is part of the Seedorf municipal coat of arms. From 1963 to 1968 and from 2000 to 2002, the gatehouse was extensively renovated.

Today, the gatehouse is used for events, as a museum, as well as a registry office, archive, and office.
