Rosenthal Manor

According to the Hildesheim Chronicle, the founding of Rosenthal dates back to Bishop Konrad II, who built and fortified Rosenthal Castle and town in 1240. After only a few years, the castle was captured and destroyed in 1255 when Albrecht I of Brunswick-Lüneburg fought against Wolfenbüttel and Hildesheim – now under Bishop Heinrich I. Rosenthal was ultimately to remain under Hildesheim rule, but due to the strong Peine Castle, a reconstruction of Rosenthal Castle was no longer necessary. Thus, the place reverted to village status. In 1854, the manor house was built on the walls of the old castle by court architect Heinrich Christian Tramm for Heinrich-Wilhelm Hahn and Carl von Thielen. Today, the house is owned by the von Schütz family.
