Raedt Manor (Korschenbroich)

Haus Raedt is located in the district of Drölzholz. It was formerly considered a Liedberg knight's fief. In 1204, the enfeoffed was Johann von Rode. In 1538, Heinrich Wolf von Itter, known as von Metternich, took over the property. In 1920, his descendants sold the house to a timber merchant. The Metternich coat of arms is still located above the front door today. In its current state of construction, it was built by Johann Adolf Freiherr Wolf Metternich in 1657. During the Prussian era, the property was a knight's estate. A robber knight is also said to have lived here once. The Lords of Metternich had their estates managed by a rent master. They lived in Haus Raedt. The rent masters were formerly also called cellarmen. Therefore, the house still bears the name Kellerei (Cellarage) today. Cellarmen here included Peter Brockers, Heinrich Heusgen, and Chaplain Johann Peter Eifeler. Around 1800, the estate's grounds comprised about 400 Morgen of land. At that time, it was divided. The house has been a protected monument for a long time. Today, the house is owned by a family who also lives here. The grandmother of the current owner was a Countess Metternich.
