Radong Manor (Bösinghoven)

On the way between Bösinghoven and Osterath lies the historic house Radong. The enclosed four-sided courtyard complex was built in 1859 by the Krefeld industrialist Jakob Herbertz.

The building is a prime example of rural architecture from the mid-19th century, characterized by its solid construction and functional layout. Herbertz, a prominent figure in the Krefeld textile industry, used it as a country estate and a symbol of his prosperity.

Construction and Design

The complex consists of a main residential building, several outbuildings, and a large inner courtyard. The main house features a symmetrical facade with regularly spaced windows and a prominent entrance. The materials used, primarily local brick and timber, reflect the regional building traditions of the time.

Later Ownership and Preservation

Over the decades, Haus Radong changed hands several times, but its original character has been largely preserved. In the late 20th century, it was recognized as a historical monument, ensuring its protection and future preservation. Today, it stands as a testament to the region's rich architectural and industrial heritage.
