Quolsdorf Manor

Quolsdorf was first mentioned in a Görlitz city book in 1390, when Nickel von Rothenburg bought shares of the Quolsdorf court. Since 1479, the Ullersdorf line of the von Nostitz family held feudal sovereignty over the village.
The Quolsdorf manor has been documented since 1588, holding the manorial lordship over the village. Intensive pond farming by the estate made the place known for the Quolsdorf tench and the Quolsdorf leather carp.
The manor house was built around 1780.
After the Second World War, the estate was expropriated and its lands redistributed as part of the land reform. Refugees were housed in the manor house, which was later used as a kindergarten and post office. Renovations took place between 1950 and 1970. The manor house is inhabited today, but largely stands empty.
