Osterwohle Manor

According to Charles IV's Land Book, Osterwohle consisted of four free farms in 1375. In 1499, Fritz von der Schulenburg (died 1510, IX. generation of the Schulenburgs) was enfeoffed with the castle. He and his descendants acquired the farms. This gave rise to the Osterwohle estate, which existed until 1945 and included the 538-hectare Trippleben forest. The manor house was built after 1430. It remained in the possession of the Schulenburgs until the land reform in 1945. The last owner was Werner Graf von der Schulenburg-Beetzendorf (1908–1979, forester and pastor in XXI. generation). Until 1945, the agriculture was leased to a Dr. Martin Lampe, who was arrested by the Soviet occupation forces (NKVD) in January 1946 and died in Special Camp No. 1 Mühlberg. Parts of the manor house, a former moated castle from the 12th century, are still preserved.
