Nothenhof Manor

Nothenhof Estate, originally a so-called feudal estate belonging to the wealthy Gerresheim Abbey and one of three estates verifiable as "Höfe zur Straten" until the 13th century, was built in its current appearance at the beginning of the 19th century. It is located on a military road traceable back to the late Middle Ages, today known as Bergische Landstraße, leading east from Düsseldorf.

In the 1930s, the estate was extended upwards, gave up its agricultural operations in the 1960s, and was converted for equestrian use. Since its acquisition by the current owners Georg and Elke Böhringer in the 1980s, and after many years of extensive renovation and modernization work, Nothenhof conveys a harmonious interplay of historical, original flair with modernity.

Today, the estate houses an organization (Horsemen-United) that lives and teaches the humane treatment of horses worldwide. Furthermore, there is a landscape architecture office, a restoration studio for icons, and an art dealership for antique furniture, design, and contemporary art.
