Neustädtel Manor

You have to search quite carefully to discover the small village of Neustädtel. It consists of just the manor, a mill, and a few smaller houses. Perhaps its hidden location is the reason why the estate was never expropriated and remained in noble possession even during the GDR era. The name was first mentioned in 1508. It originates from the construction of a Slavic castle site. The manor house with the decorative gable was built around 1700 and stands on the remains of an older predecessor building. The mansard roof is covered with slate. The cartouche on the roof, which has been renewed several times, contains the year 1649 and the initials J.A.v.Z., which refer to the former owner Johann Adolph von Zezschwitz. He was possibly the builder of the house and died in 1699. The manor includes an extensive park. The estate was also in bourgeois possession in the 18th and 19th centuries. Only later did it revert to noble owners. A prominent owner, for example, was Elisabeth von Wilcke. She was Germany's first female mayor in Uhyst. Dorli von Breitenbuch, as a noble owner, survived the upheaval after the war, after her husband fell victim to a Polish sniper in 1945. She died only in 1992 and bequeathed the estate to her nephew Bernd von Breitenbuch, who still resides in the manor today.
