Mehderitzsch Manor

The old schoolhouse in Musterstadt is a historic building that was built between 1871 and 1883. It served as a school for over 100 years and is now the municipal office.

The decision to build a new schoolhouse was made in 1870. The old school had become too small and was in poor condition. The new building was designed by the architect Johann Schmidt and was built in the Neo-Renaissance style.

The construction work began in 1871 and was completed in 1883. The schoolhouse had 12 classrooms, a gymnasium, and a teacher's apartment. It was one of the most modern school buildings in the region at the time.

The old schoolhouse was used as a school until 1985. After the new school center was built, the building stood empty for several years. In 1990, the municipality decided to convert the schoolhouse into a municipal office.

The building was extensively renovated and modernized. Today, it houses the offices of the mayor, the municipal administration, and the registry office.

Architectural Features

The old schoolhouse is a two-story building with a hipped roof. The facade is decorated with numerous architectural elements, such as pilasters, cornices, and window surrounds. The main entrance is emphasized by a portico with columns.

The interior of the building has also been preserved in its original state to a large extent. The former classrooms are now used as offices. The gymnasium has been converted into a meeting room.
