Chronology
- 1229 Foundation of Lietzen by the Knights Templar
- 1232 Establishment of the Commandery
- 1244 First documented mention as "villa lesnitz" (meaning village on the river Lesnitz)
- 13th century Construction of the single-nave Romanesque church (fieldstone)
- 1318 Abolition of the Templar Order, the Knights Hospitaller became the new owners (until 1811)
- 1690 Conversion of the medieval two-story commandery building into the present manor house (altered 19th century) with its remarkable stucco ceilings (Italian masters) and paintings depicting the virtues of the order
- 1810 King Friedrich Wilhelm III declares the Hospitaller property Prussian state property
- 1814 Friedrich Wilhelm III bestows the estates of Lietzen and Quilitz (today's Neuhardenberg) upon his State Chancellor Karl August Prince von Hardenberg
- The state-owned farm (VEG) maintained a pig breeding facility with 7000 animals here
- 1993 The comital Hardenberg family receives back parts of the property expropriated by the Nazis
