Hummelshof Manor (Kirchherten)

The manor house, a stately building with a rich history, is located in the heart of the village of Billerbeck. It was once the ancestral seat of the noble von Billerbeck family, who shaped the region for centuries.

The manor house presents itself as an impressive example of North German brick Gothic. Its striking stepped gables, the ornate window frames, and the massive oak door bear witness to the craftsmanship of past eras. The origins of the manor house date back to the 14th century, when the von Billerbeck family established their residence here. Initially, it was a fortified tower house, which was gradually expanded into a representative manor house. In the of the Thirty Years' War, the house was severely damaged but was rebuilt by the family with great effort.

In the 18th century, a baroque garden was laid out, whose remains are still visible today. The last major renovation took place in the late 19th century, giving the manor house its current appearance.
