Hudenbeck Manor (Holzhausen)

Hudenbeck Estate is a former knight's estate and manor house in the village of Bad Holzhausen, part of the town of Preußisch Oldendorf in the Minden-Lübbecke district. The estate was formerly also known as Holzhausen Estate. Actually, the historical name for today's building ensemble, which includes the Haus des Gastes (Guest House) of Bad Holzhausen, is Haus Holzhausen or Gut Holzhausen. The building ensemble historically referred to as Gut Hudenbeck is located at the western end of the spa park between Gut Holzhausen and Crollage Castle.

The estate is situated on the northern slope of the Wiehengebirge mountains and on the Große Aue river.

The manor house was built in 1558. The builder was presumably Wilke von Schloen, known as Gehle. Originally, the manor house was surrounded by a wide moat, with access via a stone bridge and a drawbridge. Due to inheritance disputes, the knight's estate passed to Johann von Steding in 1586. In 1812, the von Oheimb family purchased the complex from his descendants. In the early 1980s, the town of Preußisch Oldendorf acquired the estate and converted the manor house into the Haus des Gastes.

As early as 1556, a mill was documented here. The history of the water mill is closely linked to the history of the knight's estate.
