Hanerau Manor

Hanerau Manor was built in 1148 by Count Adolf II. In the 17th century, it was destroyed twice and subsequently rebuilt. The current late-classical two-story manor house with a flat hipped roof and four-axis courtyard front was built for Heinrich Gysbert Mannhardt in the years 1834 and 1835.

The manor house is a plastered brick building. The main entrance is located on the courtyard side and is emphasized by a portico with four Doric columns, which supports a balcony. The garden side features a central risalit with a triangular gable. The interior of the house has largely retained its original layout and some historical details, such as stucco ceilings and wall paneling.

Today, Herrenhaus Hanerau is privately owned and is used as a residential building. Parts of the manor house are also rented out for events and celebrations. The surrounding park, designed in the English landscape style, is open to the public and invites visitors for walks.

Herrenhaus Hanerau is an important example of late-classical architecture in Schleswig-Holstein. It is a listed building and bears witness to the region's rich history. The manor house and its park are a popular destination for locals and tourists alike.
