The Lords of Externbrock

The first documented mention of the Lords of Externbrock dates back to 1378. At that time, a certain "Henricus de Externbrock" was mentioned as a witness in a document. The family resided in a fortified house, the predecessor of today's manor house.

From fortified house to manor house

Over the centuries, the fortified house was repeatedly rebuilt and expanded. In the 16th century, it was transformed into a Renaissance castle. The current manor house was built in 1860. Gut Externbrock has been privately owned since 1907.

The manor house is a two-story brick building with a hipped roof. It is characterized by its simple elegance and clear lines. The facade is adorned with decorative elements such as cornices and pilasters. The interior of the manor house is equally impressive. It houses spacious rooms with high ceilings and stucco decorations.

The manor house is surrounded by a spacious park. The park was laid out in the 19th century and is characterized by its old trees, winding paths, and picturesque ponds. It invites you to take relaxing walks and linger.

Gut Externbrock is still privately owned today and is inhabited by the family. It is not open to the public. However, the park is occasionally accessible for special events.
