The Eggerather Hof is one of the three field farms around Holzweiler, a district of Erkelenz. The Eggerather Hof is the oldest of the four farms; it was mentioned in a document in 1197. Presumably, the farm represented a settlement with several farms until the early modern period. The farm itself was owned by noble families, such as those from Lerodt, Tüschenbroich, or Wickrath. The moated farm complex is dated to 1754.
In the future, due to the Garzweiler open-cast mine, the farm will be relocated along with Holzweiler around 2045.
