Eckerde Manor

The history of this impressive building stretches back to the Middle Ages. The oldest parts of the complex date back to the 12th century, when a fortified tower house stood here, serving as a noble residence.

The Lords of Heimburg and the Renaissance New Build

In the 16th century, the manor house was erected by the Lords of Heimburg.

Under their patronage, the building underwent a significant transformation. The medieval fortress was replaced by a magnificent Renaissance palace, reflecting the wealth and artistic taste of the Heimburg family. Elaborate facades, spacious halls, and ornate details characterize this period.

In the 18th century, the building experienced further changes. Under new owners, baroque elements were added, particularly in the interior. These included stucco ceilings, frescoes, and elegant wooden paneling, which gave the rooms a new splendor.

Later centuries brought further, albeit less extensive, modifications. These primarily concerned adaptations to contemporary living requirements, without fundamentally altering the historical character of the building.

Today, the historic building stands as an important cultural monument. It bears witness to various architectural epochs and the changing history of its inhabitants.
