Brunnen Manor (Godelheim)

The manor house was built by Caspar von Boeselager in 1751 and is now privately owned.

The history of the manor house is closely linked to the noble family von Boeselager, who acquired the estate in the 18th century. Caspar von Boeselager commissioned the construction of the present manor house in 1751. It served as the family's residence for several generations and was a central point of the local community.

Over the centuries, the manor house underwent various renovations and extensions, which, however, always preserved its original character. In the19th century, a wing was added, and the gardens were redesigned to reflect the prevailing landscape architecture style.

After the Second World War, the manor house was temporarily used for other purposes, including as a refugee accommodation. In the late 20th century, it was acquired by a private owner who undertook extensive restoration work to return the building to its former glory.

The manor house is an impressive example of Baroque architecture, characterized by its symmetrical facade, elegant proportions, and decorative elements. The building is made of local sandstone and features a mansard roof, which is typical for the period.

The main entrance is adorned with a richly decorated portal, above which the coat of arms of the von Boeselager family is displayed. The windows are framed with elaborate stone carvings, and the corners of the building are emphasized by pilasters.

Inside, the manor house boasts spacious rooms with high ceilings, stucco decorations, and original wooden floors. The grand staircase in the entrance hall is particularly noteworthy, with its ornate balustrade and frescoes on the ceiling.

The manor house is surrounded by a picturesque park that was laid out in the 18th century and later redesigned in the English landscape style. The park features old trees, winding paths, and a small pond.

A historic orangery, which is still used today for events, is also located in the park. Various sculptures and fountains are distributed throughout the grounds, contributing to the park's idyllic atmosphere.

The park is a popular place for walks and offers a magnificent view of the manor house and the surrounding landscape.

Today, the manor house is privately owned and is primarily used as a residential building. Parts of the building and the park are occasionally opened to the public for special events, such as concerts, exhibitions, or guided tours.

The owners are committed to preserving the historical substance of the manor house and making it accessible to a wider audience. Regular maintenance and restoration work ensure that the building remains in excellent condition.
