Bruckhausen Manor (Krefeld)

Haus Bruckhausen - built as early as 1870 - is the oldest summer residence in Traar. It bears the name of the von Bruck family. The property is surrounded to the south by a park, which is in the tradition of English landscape gardens and features remarkable trees (including a redwood). Haus Bruckhausen can look back on a varied history. Until the end of the First World War, it was used as a manor house, later it was the domicile of the Krefeld Golf Club, which used the Egelsberg as its course. From 1933 it became the home of the NSDAP local group Traar-Verberg and towards the end of the war temporarily a school. After the Second World War, the Protestant Parish Association acquired it to establish an orphanage.
