Bruchhausen Manor

Originally, a moated castle stood on the site of today's Bruchhausen Manor, of which only remnants are preserved in the remaining buildings. In the late Middle Ages, the complex belonged to a Paderborn ministerial family, from 1450 to the von Mense family, and from 1537 to the von Kanne family. In 1777, the latter had the two-story half-timbered house, which still stands today, built with a baroque exterior and interior staircase. In 1884, the Barons von Wolff-Metternich purchased Bruchhausen Manor, and their descendants still own it today.

The current manor house is a two-story half-timbered building, characteristic of the late 18th century. The baroque exterior and interior staircase are particularly noteworthy, adding to the historical charm of the building. Despite several renovations and adaptations over the centuries, the original structure and many historical details have been preserved.

The various noble families who owned Bruchhausen Manor each left their mark on the property. The von Kanne family, in particular, shaped the current appearance of the manor house significantly with their new construction in 1777. The acquisition by the Barons von Wolff-Metternich in 1884 marked another important chapter in the history of the manor, ensuring its preservation and continuous care to this day.

Today, Bruchhausen Manor is a living testimony to centuries of architectural and cultural history. It is privately owned by the descendants of the Barons von Wolff-Metternich and is carefully maintained. The manor house and its surroundings are an impressive example of how historical buildings can be preserved and continue to be used in the modern era.
