Breitenfeld Manor

The manor house was first mentioned in a document in 1271 as being owned by Margrave Dietrich von Landsberg. He transferred it to Merseburg Abbey. Later, a moated castle was built. At the beginning of the 17th century, the estate was owned by the Rothe family. Ownership later changed to the von Brösigke family until the beginning of the 19th century. They built the New Manor House in 1893 on the walls of the old moated castle. After this, ownership changed to the von Etzdorf family. In 1945, the owners were forcibly dispossessed and expelled by the communists. After the war, the manor house was used as a residence for resettlers and new farmers. In 1972, parts of the Old Manor House were demolished. The New Manor House was later used as a retirement home. Since October 2004, it has served as a conference building.
