Bienenmühle Manor

The manor house originally belonged to Rechenberg Castle and was built in 1586.

16th to 18th Century

The Rechenberg manor house was built in 1586 by the von Schönberg family. It served as the administrative and residential building for the manor, which was responsible for managing the surrounding agricultural lands.

Over the centuries, the manor house changed hands several times, often through inheritance or marriage. Among the notable owners were the families von Bünau and von Carlowitz, who each left their mark on the building's architecture and interior design.

19th Century

In the 19th century, the manor house underwent significant renovations. The original Renaissance style was partially replaced by elements of Neoclassicism, which was popular at the time. This included the addition of a new facade and the redesign of some interior rooms.

During this period, the manor house also served as a cultural center for the region. Regular events, such as concerts and readings, were held here, attracting guests from near and far.

20th Century to Today

After World War II, the manor house was used for various purposes, including as a school and a residential building. These uses led to further alterations, some of which were not in keeping with the building's historical character.

In the late 20th century, efforts began to restore the manor house to its original splendor. Extensive renovation work was carried out, focusing on preserving historical details and reversing inappropriate changes.

Today, the Rechenberg manor house is a protected monument and houses a museum that showcases the history of the building and the region. It is also used for cultural events and private celebrations, making it a vibrant part of the local community once again.
