Wenne Manor

Haus Wenne is located about two kilometers northeast of Eslohe (Sauerland) between the B 55 at the junction of L 541 and the Wenne river and has 11 inhabitants.

Haus Wenne was first mentioned in a document in 1371. The estate was the ancestral seat of the Lords of Wenne. Subsequent owners from 1412 were the Rumpf zur Wenne family and at the end of the 14th century the von Cobbenrode family. Shares in Haus Wenne (Haus tor Wene) and the associated estates were also held by the bailiffs of Elspe (Gibeldey), who sold them to Rotger Rump and his wife Stine on October 1, 1413. In 1659, the domicile was expanded into a two-story manor house with a hip roof. The moat that was built at that time no longer exists today.

In 1678, Ignatz Freiherr von Weichs inherited the property because the noble family von Cobbenrode died out in 1673. The manor house has remained in the possession of the von Weichs family to this day. In the late 18th century, Clemens August von Weichs had the complex redesigned.
