Rossdelle Castle

House ("Castle") Rossdelle is a fortified house on the Rinderbach in the Vogelsangbach valley north of Heiligenhaus.

It was a fiefdom of the Imperial Abbey of Werden. Whether it was a manor or even a castle, as noted in the records in 1588, could not yet be determined. The building is protected as a monument. The Rhenish Office for Archaeological Heritage estimates that it dates no earlier than the 16th century.

It is mentioned in documents around 1400 as Rosendelle in the Werden Urbar. House Rosendelle also included a farm with agriculture. In 1474, Provost Wilhelm von Reifferscheid was given House and Farm Rosendelle as a retirement home, where he then lived until 1506.

In 1513, it was first leased to Angermund Herman von Else (Bergian district judge), then to Reinhard von Landsberg. Gerhard von Eller zu Oefte acquired the farmsteads in 1576, but in 1659 the Werden monastery bought it back. After secularization, the estate was owned by the Count of Schulenberg. After being owned by the Rheinisch-Westfälische Kalksteinwerke in Wülfrath for several decades, the city of Heiligenhaus bought the property in 1951 and leased it to farmers. Since 1995, Stefan Zisman was the owner, who operated an equestrian center there. The current owners Karin and Sven Zilles run an equestrian center with a riding school there.
