Rommeljans Manor

Haus Rommeljans (also Romilian or Romelian) is a knight's seat in Ratingen-Schwarzbach, formerly Honschaft Homberg.

The house is a former saddle farm, first mentioned in 1517 in a directory of the income of the sacristy in Ratingen. Between 1551 and 1555, it was expanded by the Lords of Buer into a fortified knight's seat in the form of a moated castle with a tower. In 1555, Hermann von Buer had Haus Rommeljans registered as a knight's seat. From then on, Rommeljans was listed as a manorial estate eligible for the regional assembly. The house remained in the hands of the Buer family until 1758. The Buer heirs from the Staël von Holstein family owned Rommeljans from 1758 to 1763, then the Lauterbach family (1763-1784), the Spieker family (1784-1823), and since 1823 the Thomashoff family, who had already resided on a neighboring farm in the 17th century.

Since May 31, 1985, Haus Rommeljans has been a protected monument. In 1999, Rommeljans underwent extensive renovation. Today it is located on the grounds of the Düsseldorf Golf Club.
